It's time to start thinking about decorating your home for Christmas The festive season is officially here. The lights have been switched on, the trees are starting to go up and all the shops are covered with items full of sparkles and glitz. Everything is already feeling that little bit more magical and I love it. With that in mind, it's time to start thinking about how to decorate your home for Christmas and Home Bargains have the perfect items for the finishing touches to your décor. From door wreaths to tree toppers the bargain retailer has everything you could possibly want. I went to Home Bargains and picked out some of my favourite bits for the festive season to make your home look cosy, sparkly and full of Christmas spirit, and even better they're £15 or below. 24" wreath This Nordic Spirit snowy decorated 24" wreath is absolutely beautiful and probably one of my favourite decorations for your front door. Priced at £9.99 the the gorgeous green wreath is covered in fake snow, acorns and white berries adding that elegant touch to the Christmas decorations. Hanging tree decorations There is a huge range of hangings Christmas tree decorations in Home Bargains at the moment but these cutesy little houses have got to be my favourite. The sweet little pink houses are topped with a snowy roof and cute little pink doors and windows, they're idyllic and only priced at £1.49. There was lots of other choices of tree decs to chose from too! From cars to mini hot chocolate hanging mugs. There was lots that caught my eye but sadly it's four days till pay day and had to be careful on what I was spending! Disco ball tree topper This has got to be my favourite decoration I've spotted in the shop so far, I love it. Anyone who knows me knows I love a party so this disco ball tree topper is just perfect for my Christmas tree this year. The tree topper costs only £2.99, which is an absolute bargain in my opinion and is a small glitzy silver disco ball on top of a silver topper stand. Ah, I just love it. Grinch matching pyjamas OK, it's not Christmas without matching pyjamas and Home Bargains have brought back their matching Grinch pyjamas that shoppers absolutely loved last year. The range goes from adult sizes (£13) to baby onesies costing as little as £6. People have been loving the Grinch themed Christmas stock over recent years so I can imagine these pyjamas will sell fast and they're the perfect idea for Christmas Eve.Swifties live-streaming Eras Tour concerts say they're part of a 'community'game shows

La Liga: Leaders Barca suffer late collapse in Celta drawChinese Self-Driving Firm Pony AI’s Stock Gets 2 'Buy' Calls On Wall Street: Retail Gets Extremely BullishRomanian politicians have voted in favour of a new pro-European coalition government led by incumbent Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu. The move could usher in an end to a protracted political crisis in the European Union country following the annulment of a presidential election by a top court. Parliament approved the new administration in a 240-143 vote in Romania’s 466-seat legislature. The new coalition is made up of the leftist Social Democratic Party (PSD) the centre-right National Liberal Party (PNL), the small ethnic Hungarian UDMR party and national minorities. “It will not be an easy mandate for the future government,” Mr Ciolacu, whose PSD party topped the polls in the parliamentary election, said in a statement. “We are aware that we are in the midst of a deep political crisis,” he said. “It is also a crisis of trust, and this coalition aims to regain the trust of citizens, the trust of the people.” Romania’s 16 ministerial positions will be shared among the parties, which will hold a slim majority in the legislature. It is widely seen as a tactical partnership to shut out far-right nationalists whose voices found fertile ground amid high living costs and a sluggish economy. After parliament’s approval, President Klaus Iohannis swore in the new government and warned the new Cabinet that it is entering a “difficult new period” in which “for many Romanians, there are major concerns”. Romania was plunged into turmoil after Mr Georgescu’s surprise success in the presidential race, after allegations of electoral violations and Russian interference emerged. Days before the December 8 run-off, the Constitutional Court made the unprecedented move to annul the presidential race. “We go through complicated times, but I think we all learned from mistakes of the past,” Mr Ciolacu said. “I hope that together with my colleagues in the coalition, we’ll find the best solutions to get past the challenges we have in front of us.” Cristian Andrei, a political consultant based in Bucharest, said that the new government made up of the same political parties will likely embrace “soft populist” rhetoric such as economic patriotism, anti-austerity, and a peace solution in neighbouring Ukraine to counter the rise of far-right populism. “This will be a way to answer the concerns of many Romanians who voted for populists... but will not solve the fundamental problem of trust,” he said. “The only decisive factor now will be who and how convincing the pro-European candidates will be against this popular revolt.” George Simion, the leader of the far-right Alliance for the Unity of Romanians, which came second in the parliamentary election, said that all politicians from his party on Monday would vote against the Ciolacu government. In 2021, the PSD and the PNL also formed an unlikely but increasingly strained coalition together with UDMR, which exited the Cabinet last year after a power-sharing dispute.Band Aid saved my life after millions saw me starving to death on TV – here’s why critics like Ed Sheeran are wrong

Anthony Albanese is 61 years old. By the time Space Invaders came out in 1978, he was already 15, meaning the greatest technological challenge he faced during his teen years was shooting down endless waves of pixelated alien space ships in an arcade video game. So it’s perhaps understandable that the Prime Minister is finding it difficult to grasp the complexities of social media and the risks and opportunities it offers to Australian children. Social media has its dangers. There are online predators, cyberbullies, body image pressures, pornography and extremists looking for impressionable young minds to distort with racism and misogyny. Social media also has enormous benefits. It offers kids who may feel out of place with their peers in the real world an opportunity to connect with their people. It gives them an outlet for their interests and a way to express themselves and to form their identities. We need to find a way to minimise its risks while ensuring kids still have access to the many positive aspects of social media. That’s all a little too complicated for Mr Albanese and his Labor Government. Bethany Hiatt & Katina Curtis Katina Curtis Instead of making these online spaces safer for everyone, they want to shut it all down by imposing a blanket social media ban for all kids under the age of 16. Get the kids off TikTok, tell them to fire up Space Invaders and pretend it’s the 1970s again. “I want young Australians to grow up playing outside with their friends, on the footy field, in the swimming pool, trying every sport that grabs their interest, discovering music and art, being confident and happy in the classroom and at home. Gaining and growing from real experiences, with real people,” Mr Albanese wrote about the ban in a recent opinion piece published in The Herald Sun. That sounds idyllic. But Mr Albanese is evoking a nostalgia for a world that no longer exists. The natural habitat of the generation alpha child is online. There are pre-teens making serious money from running YouTube channels, kids writing sophisticated code and creating digital start-ups in their spare time. The internet is their primary form of communication with one another. Suddenly yanking social media away from them and then expecting them to have the digital literacy to navigate it upon turning 16 is a fool’s errand which could potentially open kids up to even greater risks. And that’s the teens who don’t bother figuring out a workaround, which many will inevitably do. At best, thinking that we can solve the problems presented by social media by blasting kids back into the past is extraordinarily naive. At worst, it’s a cynical political ploy designed to generate headlines and win the votes of a few frazzled parents while doing nothing to address social media’s significant risks. Imposing an old man’s solution to this very modern problem is doomed to fail. Lorraine Finlay & Anne Hollonds
