90/90-18 equivalent PLAINS, Ga. — Jimmy Carter, the 39th President of the United States and a Nobel Peace Prize winner whose post-White House life was steeped in fighting for human rights and personally helping build homes through Habitat for Humanity, has died. He was 100. Carter passed away Sunday afternoon in Plains, Georgia, The Carter Center announced . The organization shared in Feb. 2023 that the former president had entered home hospice care. A few months later, the family shared that former first lady Rosalynn Carter was diagnosed with dementia. She passed away in November 2023. While family members have since shared they didn’t expect the former president to go on much longer after Rosalynn’s death, Carter defied expectations and on Oct. 1 became the first U.S. president to live a full century. James Earl Carter, Jr. was born in Plains, Georgia, on Oct. 1, 1924. Peanut farming and devotion to the Baptist Church were mainstays of his upbringing. After graduating from the Naval Academy in 1946, Carter went on to marry Rosalynn Smith. After he served seven years as a naval officer, Carter returned to Plains. He first entered the political world in 1962, serving two terms in the Georgia state senate. Eight years later, Carter was elected governor of Georgia, and held that office from 1971 to 1975. Carter was the Democratic nominee for president in 1976 and went on to defeat incumbent Pres. Gerald Ford in the general election, 297 electoral votes to 240. Carter is the last Democratic presidential nominee to win the states of Alabama, Mississippi and Texas. “I would hope that the nations of the world might say that we had built a lasting peace, based not on weapons of war, but on international policies that reflect our own most precious values,” Carter said in his inaugural address. Among his accomplishments in the Oval Office, Carter helped calm tensions in the Middle East as he facilitated the Camp David Accords, signed by Egyptian President Anwar Sadat and Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin in 1978. Carter also created two new cabinet-level departments – the Department of Energy and the Department of Education. But there were controversies, particularly in the final 14 months of his presidency. The Iran Hostage Crisis saw 66 American diplomats and citizens held hostage in the U.S. Embassy in Iran. In an attempt to free the hostages, Carter ordered a military operation that failed, killing eight American servicemen. After 444 days, the hostages were freed on January 20, 1981 -- the day Carter's successor, Ronald Reagan, took office. Carter also ordered a U.S. boycott of the 1980 Summer Olympic Games in Moscow to protest the Soviet Union invading Afghanistan. Sixty other nations also boycotted. The Soviets would return the gesture by boycotting the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles. Carter lost a bid for a second term to Reagan in what was both an electoral vote and popular vote landslide . After leaving Washington, Carter’s spent his time advancing human rights around the world. In 1982, he established The Carter Center in Atlanta. “I’ve been humbled to get to know people around the world and to see that, in effect, all people on earth are the same in the eyes of God, and should be the same in the eyes of each other – worthy of respect, care and love,” Carter said. His work abroad won him the 2002 Nobel Peace Prize. Carter also continued to give back at home through his involvement with Habitat for Humanity. He also taught Sunday school and was a deacon at the Maranatha Baptist Church of Plains. "We can choose to alleviate suffering. We can choose to work together for peace. We can make these changes — and we must," Carter once said. Carter holds the distinction of living longer than any other former president. He and wife, Rosalynn, also hold the record of the longest-married couple in presidential history – with the couple celebrating their 77th wedding anniversary on July 7, 2023. Carter is survived by three sons, one daughter, 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. It’s that time of year again: Dunbar football is on the march. The three-time defending Class 2A/1A state champions dominated both lines and made big plays when called on Saturday against visiting Fallston, claiming a 36-0 win in the quarterfinal round. Now 12-0, the No. 4 Poets will take on the Frederick-Liberty winner in next week’s semifinal round either Friday or Saturday. In advancing Saturday, the Poets got touchdown runs from Cordae James, Cole Floyd, Normauri Johnson and quarterback Savion Witherspoon, who also threw a 35-yard strike to Jalen Gause. “If we can control the line of scrimmage, we feel we can play our game,” Dunbar coach Michael Carter said. “So that was the main thing, us controlling the line of scrimmage, being able to run the ball and keep Savion on his feet. So that was all good.” Throughout the game, the Poets’ offense was able to sustain drives, mostly with quality execution on third down. But it was a fourth-down play in the closing seconds of the first half that summed up the outcome. Already leading 14-0 with 14 seconds left in the second quarter and facing a fourth-and-18 on the Fallston 35, Witherspoon had a lengthy scramble to keep the play alive before heaving a pass to the end zone for Gause. It sent the Poets into the halftime break with a 20-0 lead, and they never looked back. (Brian Krista/Staff) Defensively, the Poets got an interception from Samuel Eades and a fumble recovery from Eli Turpin. The special teams also blocked an early field goal try from Fallston, which finished the season with a 7-4 mark. Although they were able to enjoy some quality drives of their own behind a gutsy performance by sophomore quarterback Mike Griffin, the Cougars were unable to close out any series. On defense, linebacker Evan Alcide had a strong day that included two fumble recoveries. Fallston came into Saturday on a three-game winning streak, reaching the state quarterfinals for a second straight season. Related Articles “Our guys are tough. This is probably the state champion we ran into,” Fallston coach Keith Robinson said. “Ultimately, they were just bigger, stronger, faster that us, but I’m proud of the way our guys played.” For the Poets, more good news came Thursday when it was announced that three-star offensive tackle Joshua Blackston, who was his usual dominant self Saturday, became the first football player from Baltimore City public schools to be named an Under Armour All-American. During practice, the 6-foot-5, 275-pound Rutgers commit got a monumental surprise when Under Armour representatives presented him with an All-America Game jersey as his parents, teammates and coaches were on hand to celebrate the special occasion. He’s proud to be able to represent Baltimore in the 2025 Under Armour All-America Game, set to take place Jan. 2 at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida. “It’s a privilege to be the first Baltimore City public school athlete to be selected,” he said. “For me, it’s a blessing that I can be the leader of that, to put on for my city and showcase the talent that Baltimore City public schools specifically produce.”

Read unlimited articles for free today: Already have an account? CINCINNATI (AP) — Saturday’s wild overtime win over the Denver Broncos was the most important in what has been a mostly disappointing season for the Cincinnati Bengals. Not only did the Bengals (8-8) win their fourth straight for the first time this season and keep their slim playoff hopes alive, but they also finally made enough plays late to win a close game. Seven of their previous eight losses were by one score. And Cincinnati also got a win over one of the league’s better teams. Its seven previous victories came against sub-.500 teams. Joe Burrow, in the midst of the best season of his career, threw a 3-yard touchdown pass to Tee Higgins with 1:07 left in overtime to win it 30-24. The final drive followed two critical stops by the Cincinnati defense. “We’ve known we had a good football team all along,” Bengals coach Zac Taylor said. “And those (close) games are disappointing that we came up short, but they didn’t change our process. They didn’t change what our guys believed in. We didn’t have to change everything we did. We still believed in what we were doing. And now we’ve won four in a row, and we have to make it five in a row.” The playoffs are still a long shot. To get there, the Bengals will have to go into Pittsburgh and beat the Steelers next weekend in the regular-season finale and also count on other bubble teams losing. What’s working The Bengals are playing their best football of the season. Burrow, battered by the Denver pass rush, completed nearly 80% of his passes in piling up 412 yards and three touchdowns. It marked his eighth straight game with at least 250 yards and three touchdown passes, extending his NFL record. ... Receiver Ja’Marr Chase, who had nine catches for 102 yards against the Broncos, could finish the season with the receiving triple crown — most catches, yards and touchdowns. What needs help The offensive line continues to struggle, even with the return of starting left tackle Orlando Brown Jr. Burrow rarely had a clean pocket, was constantly on the run and was sacked seven times and hit 15 times. Stock up The Cincinnati defense, much maligned this season, forced two Denver punts in overtime. The second one led to the Bengals’ game-winning drive. Linebacker Germaine Pratt intercepted Bo Nix to end a Denver drive in the fourth quarter. “For them to rise up and get those two stops and allow the offense a shot to go win it (is) big-time stuff,” Taylor said. Higgins caught 11 passes for 131 yards and was the recipient of all three of Burrow’s touchdown passes. “Everybody can see what kind of player he is,” Burrow said of Higgins, who is playing this season with the franchise tag. “He elevates us to a different level when he’s playing like that.” Stock down Kicker Cade York, who was signed in early December to fill in for the injured Evan McPherson, had a chance to win the game with 2:49 left in overtime, but his 33-yard field-goal attempt bounced off the left upright. Injuries RB Chase Brown sprained his ankle in an awkward slide as the Bengals tried to run out the clock in regulation. ... OT Amarius Mims suffered an injury to his right hand. Key number Winnipeg Jets Game Days On Winnipeg Jets game days, hockey writers Mike McIntyre and Ken Wiebe send news, notes and quotes from the morning skate, as well as injury updates and lineup decisions. Arrives a few hours prior to puck drop. 499 — total yards by the Bengals against Denver. Next steps The Bengals finish the season at Pittsburgh. Chamo spoke on Friday night on the sideline of the 14th Anniversary and Award Ceremonies of the Nigerian NewsDirect in Lagos. The commissioner was part of the top government functionaries dispatched to receive the newspaper’s Governor of the Year Award in Agro-Investments and Security for Namadi. “Governor Namadi spent over N20,000,000,000 invested in education in Jigawa state under the present administration, ” the commissioner said. According to him, the governor has recorded a giant push for higher education in the state by employing over 3000 teachers and building school infrastructure to provide a quality learning environment. He said that the number of teachers in the state was raised from 2, 566 in May 2023, to 5,986. Chamo said that the administration had procured and distributed over 10,000 3-seater desks for students while 5,000 staff furniture was provided at various schools. The commissioner added that 3,500 double beds were procured and distributed to boarding schools with 3,840 mattresses to go with them. He said that 564 tabs were distributed to senior secondary school principals to enhance digital learning skills amongst teachers while 300 routers were procured and distributed. Chamo said the Namadi’s administration had ensured the provision of internet connectivity across the 293 senior secondary schools in the state to ensure access to a wide range of educational and information resources. He said that over N200 million has been used to develop a digital teaching and learning platform tagged J-Compete programme, which he said, has helped both teachers and students with numerous resources in the learning environment. The commissioner said that Namadi’s administration had improved school feeding by 200 per cent from N180 per student to N450 per student. He said that this had made expenditure for school feeding programmes to rise from N1.1 billion to N3.4 billion annually. According to him, the government had carried out various capacity training programmes for teachers, school principals and directors to enhance their capacity. He said that the administration had carried out several interventions including the Female Teacher Development Scheme, Girls for Health Program, free school uniforms for girls, and registration fees for law students among others He said that the Namadi administration constructed new classrooms, laboratories, administrative blocks, hostels, a library, kitchen, laundry, sports fields and toilets in all senior secondary schools including science and technical schools. “School structures were renovated at the cost of N2,268,211,583 with the procurement of teaching, learning, instructional materials and sports material amounting to N5,791,510,414. “Payment of internal and external Examination at the sum N1,001,614,221 while schools feeding consumed the sum of N2,127,060,850. “The administration spent the sum of N4,776,688,726 on foreign scholarship while internal scholarship consumed N1,904,592,925, with the total amount standing at N6,681,281,651,” he said. Similarly, Dr Hauwa Alhassan, Technical Adviser to Gov.Umar Namadi on Basic Education said that the administration had taken basic education to the top of the charts. Alhassan said that with the implementation and success of the J-Teach Programme, the governor had addressed the shortage of teachers in rural and underserved areas, “with notable improvements in teaching quality and student engagement”. She said that the state had improved collaboration with NGOs and strong partnerships with organisations like PLAN and PLANE for educational development and empowerment of educators. “The administration has enhanced inclusion of children with disabilities, introduced specialised programmes and infrastructure, to ensure access to quality education for children with disabilities,” she said. Alhassan said that the governor had invested in Nomadic Schools, “which expanded educational opportunities for nomadic communities, ensuring access to education irrespective of their mobility”. The adviser said that under Namadi’s administration, strategic interventions were made to revert the schools used as IDP camps back into functional educational institutions. She said that the governor had put special focus on Early Childhood Education, foundational literacy and numeracy programmes. Meanwhile, Namadi, who was represented by Malam Bala Ibrahim, the Secretary to the State Government to receive the award, said he was pleased with the recognition and happy his contributions to the development of his state and the people were being acknowledged. The governor, who dispatched top government functionaries, including two commissioners and three technical advisers to receive the award, said that he was highly elated with the recognition of his investments in agriculture, security, education and health for the benefit of the people. Namadi said that the award would serve as an inspiration to do more and work for the betterment of the people.

O P I N I ON The recent vote of the Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BoMA) to yet again delay work on the new Beech Street School is disappointing at best, downright harmful at worst. The community at large depends on a lively, vigorous school system. This move will stifle our current growth and momentum as a city. I suppose though, that is what people wanted. By voting for the same people over and over again, whose only real interest in politics is personal gain, we continue as a community to elevate the worst examples of public service. People love the drama, but this isn’t an episode of reality TV—far removed from our every day life. The vote on Tuesday night has real consequences for Manchester. I’d like to remind the Board of Mayor and Aldermen of the history of a few things they cited as being reasons not to move forward with the new Beech Street School. The Manchester Board of School Committee (MBOSC) asked for a tax cap budget—we were denied. Furthermore, the BoMA took $4.2 million out and told us to do more with less; now they want to cite funding issues with the Manchester School of Technology (MST) building projects as evidence of the MBOSC and the School District’s “inability” to manage our finances. The BoMA denied the sale of two of those plots of land from the MST building project stating they wanted to help MST “find a way” to retain them for the benefit of the students, yet have fallen short (see BoMA Committee on Lands and Building minutes from March 21, 2023). MST came with their own solution to fund the building project, were denied, and now the BoMA is wondering why it can’t move forward? Why are we sitting on potential houses that could be built and sold to benefit the city and our education system? Because the BoMA doesn’t want to fund education at even a base level. They want to enfold the School District and the MBOSC as a city department, bringing it under their full control. Aldermen have made it no secret that they would prefer the MBOSC not exist. However, we must persist. The BoMA believes they are in a position to refute professional architects, developers, and contractors, having no experience themselves, who say it is in our community’s best interests financially to build a new Beech Street School. At the MBOSC, we value the education and experience those professionals bring. We listen, we ask questions, and we discuss (pragmatically) how to move forward—making compromises on wish list items recognizing that the project in its totality is more important than the desire of one committee member’s over another’s. As for transparency, let’s not forget the combined (public) BoMA and MBOSC meeting on March 4 th —where the BoMA were all afforded the opportunity to ask questions and receive answers about the Long Term Facilities Projects. SMMA gave a full presentation on both Phases 1 and 2, answering questions about how cost differentials between renovations and new builds function. We have nothing to hide. It’s all on the School District’s website and in the meeting minutes posted on the City’s website. It’s clear though, that the BoMA is fragmented by partisan politics—even though “alderman” is supposed to be a nonpartisan position. Tuesday’s vote was a clear representation of this issue. Mayor Ruais cast the tie breaking vote—with GOP/conservative members voting in opposition to the land transfer and Democratic members supporting the measure. There is no compromise with them, yet we continue to vote the same people into office year after year and wonder why so little seems to get done? With such a dysfunctional BoMA, MBOSC must continue to exist. We are a functioning body that respects one another and respects the trust the community has placed in us to ensure an effective and successful school district. If the School District and the MBOSC were to be folded into a city department, the chaos of the BoMA would only further infect the city. Just look at the damage they’ve done by their continuous attempts to sabotage the progress the MBOSC has made on behalf of the city. Look at the BoMA’s inability to own any of it. The BoMA slashed the budget and is now parading a recent $6.5 million supplemental appropriation from last year’s Free & Reduced Lunch enrollments as if they are somehow being extra generous this year—never mind those funds come the State (see the packet from 10/30/24 BoMA meeting). They denied the sale of two plots of land making false promises of help to MST, and now the BoMA has decided they are construction experts—led by a man who is a personal injury attorney. Look at us and look at them. Don’t fall for it. They aren’t effective. They want you to think they are, though. They act as if they are saving you money by slashing our education budget, when, in the long run, we will suffer more as a community if we don’t invest now. They simultaneously demand more of a system that has been historically, systematically, and unconstitutionally underfunded—all to appear as if they “care.” All to get your vote again in November 2025. At the end of the show, it’s all smoke and mirrors. Don’t be fooled. Jessica Spillers is the Manchester Board of School Committee Member for Ward 8 Beg to differ? Agree to disagree? Comment below. Fianna Fáil has edged ahead in the last opinion poll – but Friday’s election looks impossible to call. Micheál Martin’s party is unchanged at 21pc, while the trend of Fine Gael support falling has continued in the latest Business Post/Red C poll , which shows the party at 20pc, down 2pc. Fine Gael support is the lowest since Simon Harris took over as leader last March. Sinn Féin is up by 2pc and ranks at 20pc. When shown ballot papers with candidates on them, Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael were tied were 21pc, while Sinn Féin dropped to 19pc. But with the margin of error in the poll set at 3pc, it is too close to predict who will win the popular vote. Fine Gael has now had a series of bad polls, with last weekend’s Sunday Independent/Ireland Thinks poll showing the party drop by 4pc and the Irish Times/Ipsos MRBI poll showing it is down by 6pc. While tonight’s Business Post poll does not show as a dramatic drop, it shows a continued trend in a drop of public support for Fine Gael ahead of the general election on Friday. The Fine Gael campaign has been dogged by controversies, starting with Ryanair’s Michael O’Leary making controversial remarks about teachers, Mr Harris’s interaction with a disability worker in Cork, as well as poor performances in leaders’ debates. Fine Gael has also faced questions over its handling of Independent general election candidate Cllr Patsy O’Brien, who was expelled from the party after sending pornographic material to a party staffer. Some 14pc of respondents said they would give Independents their first-preference vote, while 6pc said they would give their No.1 to the Social Democrats. Labour, the Greens, Aontú and Independent Ireland all rank at 4pc. People Before Profit-Solidarity come in at 2pc. Tanaiste and Fianna Fail leader Micheal Martin during a press event (Brian Lawless/PA) Election 2024 campaign daily update: Wednesday 27th of November 2024 Some 21pc of respondents to the latest poll said they will give their second preferences to Fianna Fáil, while 17pc said Fine Gael and 13pc said Sinn Féin. Red C interviewed a random sample of adults aged over 18 between Wednesday November 20 and Tuesday November 26. The margin of error in the Business Post/Red C poll is 3pc. On the social media platform X, Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald said tonight’s poll confirms what her candidates “ are feeling on the ground”: “The momentum for change is with Sinn Féin,” she said. The results come as political parties have just one day left of campaigning before Friday’s election.KYIV (AP) – At football games in Ukraine, crowd sizes are determined by the capacity of the nearest bomb shelter. For the first time since the war began in 2022, the Ukrainian Premier League is holding a full season with fans present, as martial-law bans on public gatherings have been eased. Despite the constant threat of airstrikes, Dynamo Kyiv supporters eagerly snap up the 1,700 tickets available for each home game at the 16,000-seat Valeriy Lobanovskyi Stadium. Many fans are keen to experience a rare moment of calm, free from the country’s traditionally intense sporting rivalries. While the war forced Dynamo to relocate its home matches in the Europa League to Hamburg, Germany, it uses its home stadium in Kyiv for domestic league matches. Vitalii Kozubra brought his nine-year-old son Makar to watch Dynamo, a title contender, face mid-table Zorya Luhansk. “Even though there’s a war going on, this is something people can enjoy together,” Kozubra said, noting the friendly atmosphere at the stadium, where Zorya fans mingled with locals. Makar marveled at the difference between watching a game in person and on television. As the players took the field, all 22 of them draped in Ukrainian yellow-and-blue flags, the crowd, which included servicemen and families with children, erupted in applause. The stadium was alive with the sound of players’ exertion and the thud of the ball. Children rushed to the touchline for autographs, drawn by the few foreign players from Brazil, Senegal, Ivory Coast and Panama who have chosen to remain despite the war. Zorya wasn’t booed once. PHOTO: AP Ukrainian servicemen play football. PHOTO: AP Young fans ask for autographs after a match. PHOTO: AP SIRENS AND SHELTERS Ukraine’s 16-team top-flight league has managed to continue, despite increasing challenges. Matches are scheduled for early afternoon due to frequent power outages and the logistical challenges of travelling across Europe’s second-largest country during war. When air raid sirens interrupt play – sometimes for hours – players and fans alike head to shelters as alarms blare from loudspeakers and thousands of mobile phones. “This season, we’ve been lucky in Kyiv, with no air alarms during our home games,” said Dynamo club spokesman Andrii Shakhov. “But it’s a different story for away games... The longest one we had lasted four hours because of four air alarms.” Ukrainian football players are subject to the draft at age 25 but clubs can apply for exemptions under business protection rules. Two teams currently play permanently outside their home field due to the war, amid broader disruption, while two others withdrew after fighting started due to stadium damage. The country’s football tradition dates back to its Soviet past, when it was a football powerhouse, producing top-tier players and coaches. In the 1980s, fan movements often became expressions of Ukrainian identity. After 1991, football continued to be a source of national pride through years of political and financial turmoil. Ukraine reached the quarterfinals of the 2006 World Cup and co-hosted the 2012 European Championships. At home, supporters’ groups have set aside violent rivalries for more than a decade, ever since they united to back protesters during the deadly 2013-14 uprisings. “Dexter,” a red-bearded Dynamo supporter and civilian contractor for the military, explained why the truce among rival fan groups still holds. “It became necessary because we needed to unite against a common enemy. These internal conflicts lost their relevance when people from rival fan groups ended up fighting together in the same military units,” he said, while walking his dog along the banks of the Dnipro River. RIVALRIES SET ASIDE He added that fan organisations are involved in nearly every aspect of the war effort, from active combat duty to fundraising, veteran support, and providing technical skills like computer programming to the military. FOOTBALL FANS AT THE FRONT Eight hours east of Kyiv, in the Kharkiv region, servicemen from the 3rd Assault Brigade played a match on a field near bombed-out buildings. Many of these fighters had been recruited through football-related channels and acquaintances. “Organised fans play a huge role in this war because they’re highly motivated,” said a serviceman with the call sign “Shtahet”, a Dynamo supporter currently on deployment. Combat medic “Poltava” noted that football remains a vital morale booster. “We get together whenever we can and rent spaces to play,” he said. “There’s not much entertainment here, so football is our only joy.”Farmers plotting huge protest against Labour that could 'shut down economy'

Black Friday, November 29, has passed, but that doesn't mean it's too late to score the best deals of 2024. I've worked through numerous Black Fridays over the years, and my experience has always been the same: about half of the deals end on Black Friday at midnight, and the other half will stay live through the weekend and end on Cyber Monday (which lands on December 2). I have seen some amazing deals this year and at this point many are still available. I can promise you there will not be a shortage of incredible deals from now until December 2. In terms of deal quality, Black Friday 2024 has shaped up to be a golden year across several categories and expect this gravy train to continue into Cyber Monday. There are better-than-expected discounts on gaming consoles like the PlayStation 5 , Nintendo Switch , Meta Quest 3S , and Steam Deck, several Apple iPads , AirPods , and Apple Watches, including new 2024 models, rarely discounted video games (including top-shelf Switch games priced well under $40), powerful gaming PCs and laptops, and much, much more. Whether you're hunting down a specific deal, or casually perusing the top 100 Black Friday deals so far, I've got you covered. TL;DR - Best Black Friday Deals Meta Quest 3S (Free $75 Amazon Credit) - $299 Meta Quest 3 (Free $75 Amazon Credit) - $499 Nintendo Switch OLED Holiday Bundle - $274.99 Nintendo Switch Holiday Bundle - $224.99 PS5 Cobalt Star Disc Bundle - $424.99 PS5 NBA 2K25 Digital Bundle - $374.99 Hulu for $0.99/mo for 12 Months Apple AirPods Pro - $153.99 JLabs JBuds Lux Noise Cancelling Headphones - $29 The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - $30 Star Wars Outlaws - $39.99 The Best Black Friday VR Headset Deal At $299.99, the Meta Quest 3S was inarguably the best value out there in the world of VR gaming, but the deal's even better. Both Amazon and Target are including freebies: Amazon shoppers get a bonus $75 in Amazon digital credit , and Target shoppers get a bonus $75 Target gift card . The Quest 3S also includes the Batman: Arkham Shadow VR game. What really sets this deal above all other VR deals (like the PlayStation VR2 ) is that the Meta Quest 3S can be played completely untethered. That means you can play games like Beat Saber or Pistol Whip without having to own a powerful gaming PC or a PlayStation 5 console. Try to find another standalone VR headset at this price and you'll come up empty. The Other Best Black Friday VR Headset Deal Deep into Black Friday, Amazon has finally offered a pretty sweet deal on a Meta Quest 3 512GB VR headset. You can get it for the current retail price of $499.99, however Amazon is throwing in a bonus $75 in Amazon digital credit. Reminder that it was less than two months go that Meta dropped the official retail price from $649.99 to $499.99. The Meta Quest 3 is the best standalone consumer-oriented VR headset you can get right now. The Quest 3S has very similar internals, and the same Touch controllers, but with downgraded optics. That's more significant than it reads on paper. How much enjoyment you get from VR headset is largely determined by the visual quality of the display.. If the image that you see is blurry, or distorted, it takes you out of the immersion. Sony released its entire set of Black Friday PlayStation deals last week and most major retailers have followed suit. The best deal is definitely on the consoles themselves and not the accessories: The PS5 Slim Disc Edition has dropped to $424.99 (originally $500) and the PS5 Slim Digital Edition has dropped to $374.99 (originally $450). I would choose the Disc Edition because it's only $50 more and then I have the option to buy (and later sell or trade) physical disc media. But if you want to save some money and go the Digital Edition route, I would suggest getting the NBA 2K25 bundle (see below), which also includes a game. Although the Fortnite Cobalt Star bundle has a fancy-looking box, no actual game is included. More PlayStation Black Friday Deals Star Wars: Outlaws was released only three months ago and it's already 33% off for Black Friday. Maybe Ubisoft is trying to boost sales after a lackluster launch , but that means you get to enjoy a AAA title at a great discount. IGN's Tristan Ogilvie gave it a 7/10 review, which is still good, but I've beaten the game and immensely enjoyed it, so I would have given it an 8. It definitely has an "Assassin's Creed game in a Star Wars skin" vibe, and there's nothing wrong with that. More Black Friday Video Game Deals for PS5/Xbox Compared to the PS5 and Xbox Series X, the Nintendo Switch console has the best discount for Black Friday. The early holiday bundles, which were released back in October, included your choice of the Switch or Switch OLED , a digital download voucher for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe , and a 12-month Switch Online membership. I thought that this was going to be the official Black Friday deal. Alas, Target ( but not Amazon, due to its supposedly shaky relationship with Nintendo ) has just knocked another $75 off the price tag. That means you can pick up a Switch bundle for as low as $225. I have both models and, if I were to buy a third, it would be the Switch OLED. The screen is that much better. More Nintendo Switch Black Friday Deals For the moment, Walmart is the only retailer offering Tears of the Kingdom for $30. IGN gave it a 10/10 "Masterpiece" rating and I would have to agree. Tom Marks wrote that "The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is an unfathomable follow-up, expanding a world that already felt full beyond expectation and raising the bar ever higher into the clouds." I wouldn't wait too long to get this deal; Walmart is already sold out of physical copies. More Black Friday Video Game Deals for Nintendo Switch The least expensive adjustable dumbells Bowflex isn't the only option when it comes to adjustable dumbbell sets, especially on Black Friday. FitRX is another popular brand at a much, much lower price point. As part of the Walmart Black Friday Sale , you can pick up a pair of FitRx Adjustable Dumbbells for only $139.97. A comparable set of Bowflex 551 adjustable dumbbells costs three times more . Walmart even offers free shipping, which is great since the package will weigh in at well over 100 pounds. The Best Black Friday Streaming Deal This Black Friday, Hulu is available for just $0.99/month for an entire year – down from $9.99/month, and at 90% off that's hard to beat. Similarly, the Disney+ bundle is being offered at $2.99/month for a year , down from $10.99/month, making these some of the best Black Friday streaming deals available. Don't miss out. Hulu stands out as one of the top streaming platforms today, yet it’s often underrated. With critically acclaimed movies like Anatomy of a Fall and Talk to Me , and standout, Emmy-winning TV series such as Shogun , Abbott Elementary , The Bear , and Only Murders in the Building , there’s always something exceptional to watch. The best Black Friday AirPods deal has arrived and it's better than I predicted . Amazon, Target, and Walmart have all dropped the price of the second-generation Apple AirPods Pro wireless noise-cancelling earbuds to $153.99. This discount brings the price down to the same level as the Apple AirPods 4 with noise cancellation . Between the two, the AirPods Pro is still Apple's best earbuds because it offers better sound quality and better noise cancellation performance. There are a lot of amazing iPad deals today, like the new iPad Mini for $399.99 or the iPad Pro M4 for $850 , but this is the best deal for most people. The standard iPad is the model I'd recommend; it offers snappy performance and the intuitive iOS interface at a low price. Tenth gen improvements over its predecessor include a larger 10.9" screen and a faster A14 Bionic chip, Magic Folio keyboard support so you can convert it into a mini laptop (making it one of the best iPads for students ), a USB Type-C port, better camera, and updated Wi-Fi 6 protocol. For anyone on a budget, this is the Apple Watch to get . The second generation Apple Watch SE starts at just $149 only at Amazon and Walmart . This is the best price we've ever seen for a brand-new Apple Watch with a warranty. Despite the affordable price tag, you actually don't lose out on much functionality if you opt for an Apple Watch SE. It's powered by the same S8 processor found in the Apple Watch Series 8 and the first-generation Apple Watch Ultra. It also features a bright and sharp OLED Retina display, IPX7 water resistance, fall detection, sleep tracking, Apple Pay, and nearly all the fitness tracking functionality including heart rate monitoring. More Apple Black Friday Deals Lots of interactive elements for a display-worthy set This popular LEGO Creator set rarely goes on sale. Today, LEGO Shop is offering the LEGO NASA Space Shuttle Discovery 10283 set for $159.99, or a savings of 20%. You'll need to be a LEGO Insiders member, but signing up is free. This impressive set consists of 2,354 bricks, which averages out to about 6.7 cents per brick. As its namesake suggests, this is a replica of the Space Shuttle Discovery, with a center compartment that opens up and houses a separate Hubble telescope, which can be deployed with a robot arm. It looks amazing as a display, but it's also very interactive. Up to 50% Off These Smart Glasses There's a very intriguing – if a bit controversial – deal going on that you might want to check out for yourself. Both Amazon and Target are offering a 20% discount off the Ray-Ban Meta Wayfarer Smart Glasses , with prices starting at $239.20. That's the same deal you'll find at other retailers, however Amazon and Target are throwing in additional freebies: either $90 in Amazon digital credit or a $90 Target gift card. The Meta Wayfarer glasses are an influencer's dream, and that's exactly what they're designed for: social media. They're surprisingly slim and lightweight for glasses equipped with an integrated 12MP video camera and speaker. You can use them to take quick snapshots or up to 60 second videos that you can then upload to your social media of choice. You can even livestream 30 second videos in 720p. Includes One-Time $20 Audible Credit See deal in the UK - £0.99/month for three months (was £7.99) From now until December 31, non-current Audible subscribers are eligible for three months of Audible Premium Plus for $0.99 per month and a bonus one-time $20 Audible credit. Premium Plus is Audible's best plan and three months would normally cost you about $44.95. You also get a free audiobook of your choice each month that you get to keep indefinitely. Audible is a subscription service that gives you access to hundreds of thousands of the best audiobooks without ever having to purchase them. Premium Plus is Audible's highest tier plan and it gives you access to a whopping 500,000 audiobooks. These include all-time classics like Frank Herbert's Dune , Harry Potter, Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire), The Witcher , The Sandman Series, and The Lord of the Rings . Where Are the Xbox Deals? Xbox gamers might be wondering why I haven't listed Xbox consoles. Unfortunately, Microsoft seems to have taken a step back and decided not to host any outstanding console deals for Black Friday. All of the consoles are marked down by $50, but these deals aren't exceptional. If you're already an Xbox owner, however, and are looking for discounts on peripherals, there are two great deals to consider. The WD Black C50 Storage Expansion Card is down to $99.99 from $150. Also, Xbox wireless controllers are down to as low as $39.99. Even better, the limited edition Ghost Cipher and Sky Cipher controllers are both on sale for just $45 each. One of the best gaming PC deals to come out of the Alienware Black Friday Sale is this Alienware Aurora R16 configuration for $1,499.99. It's the least expensive desktop computer equipped with an RTX 4070 Ti Super GPU. The rest of the specs are up to snuff as well, like an Intel Core i7-14700 CPU, 16GB of DDR5 RAM, and a 1TB NVMe SSD. The RTX 4070 Ti Super GPU is good enough to run even the newest games at up to 4K resolution (in fact, it's the least expensive GPU that I'd recommend for high-framerate 4K gaming), although I'd say that 1440p is its sweet spot. More Black Friday Gaming PC Deals The Walmart Black Friday Sale brings with it this excellent gaming laptop deal. Walmart is offering a Lenovo LOQ RTX 4070 gaming laptop for only $879.99. Yes, you read that right. The LOQ is Lenovo's lineup of budget-oriented gaming laptops. This system features a 15" 1080p display, a low-voltage AMD Ryzen 7 7435HS CPU, GeForce RTX 4070 GPU, 16GB of RAM, and a 512GB SSD. The RTX 4070 GPU is a fully powered (115W TGP) model, not a throttled one like on some other budget laptops. Despite its low cost, this laptop will perform almost as well as the best RTX 4070 gaming laptops. You should be able to play any game comfortably on the 1080p display. More Black Friday Gaming Laptop Deals Perhaps the best Black Friday deal on a high-end gaming monitor has arrived. Amazon is offering the massive 57" Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 Dual 4K UHD gaming monitor at the exclusive price of $1,499.99. That's $100 less than everyone else's gaming monitor Black Friday deal and nearly 50% off the retail price. Keep in mind that there is no other monitor to compare it with. Players in Azul compete to design the most beautiful tiled mosaics they can. In our Azul review , Matt Thrower writes, "Between its beautiful presentation, simplicity and depth there’s little doubt that Azul has earned its place as a modern classic. While the tinkering with its formula undertaken by its sequels has created more challenging games, none has captured the fine blend of accessibility and interactivity that makes it special." In my experience, many of the same deals we saw on Black Friday will return for Cyber Monday 2024 , including deals that were sold out or expired. Retailers usually release their hottest selling items in batches so that every sale event has at least some inventory reserved. That said, I also expect plenty of new, never before seen deals. Traditionally, Black Friday was known as the "retail holiday," where the best deals were found in-store, and Cyber Monday was known as the "online holiday," where the best deals were online only. Although today the lines have blurred, it is still true that many online only retailers still consider Cyber Monday the sale event of the year instead of Black Friday . Expect some amazing sales to come out of online-only sites like Amazon, Newegg, Dell, HP, Lenovo and several online-only deals from traditional retailers like Best Buy, Target, and Walmart. In fact, Amazon has taken the preemptive and already switched over to Cyber Monday. Eric Song is the IGN commerce manager in charge of finding the best gaming and tech deals every day. Robinson will be available to play when the Rams (5-6) visit the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, Rams coach Sean McVay said Wednesday. “I think he does understand the severity of this, and how lucky we were that nobody was injured,” McVay said. “I do believe that he's remorseful. We are going to let the legal process take place. The league has a process as well.” Robinson was arrested early Monday morning after California Highway Patrol officers observed a white Dodge sedan driving over 100 mph on the 101 freeway in the western San Fernando Valley, a few miles from the Rams’ training complex in Woodland Hills. The driver, who identified himself as Robinson, had “objective signs and symptoms of alcohol impairment,” the CHP said in a statement released to The Associated Press. Robinson spoke to the team and expressed remorse about his arrest, McVay and quarterback Matthew Stafford said. “I think it was a bad decision he made,” McVay said. “I don't think that makes him a bad person, and I do believe this is something that, with the words that he said, our guys will learn from it, and hopefully nobody is ever going to repeat something like this. Let it be a learning opportunity, and a fortunate outcome that nobody was injured.” Robinson has 26 receptions for 384 yards and a team-leading six touchdown catches while starting all 11 games in his second season with the Rams . He caught a TD pass in the Rams' 37-20 loss to Philadelphia several hours before his arrest. The nine-year NFL veteran has served as a capable No. 3 option for Stafford behind star receivers Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua. Robinson spent his first six NFL seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs, winning a Super Bowl ring in February 2020, and spent one year with Baltimore before joining the Rams last year. “Let this be a lesson to all of us,” Stafford said. “We're lucky with the result that came of it, to be honest with you, that nobody was hurt or injured. I know that D-Rob is a great person. I love being around him. Love him as a teammate. ... I'm just trying to support him, help him out any way I can.” AP NFL: https://apnews.com/NFL
